Across New Jersey, decisions made by elected leaders can affect our neighborhoods, schools, families, businesses, and communities. Voting gives each of us an opportunity to participate in those decisions and help shape the future of our state.
But before you can cast your ballot, you need to make sure you’re registered.
The Deadline to Register Is October 13, 2026
New Jersey residents who want to vote in the November 3, 2026 General Election must register to vote by Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Don’t wait until Election Day to discover that you aren’t registered or that your voter information needs to be updated. Take a few minutes now to check your status and make sure you’re ready.
Are You Registered to Vote?
Even if you have voted before, it’s a good idea to verify your voter registration.
If you recently moved, changed your name, haven’;t voted in several elections, or simply aren’t sure about your registration status, check your information before the deadline.

Who Can Register to Vote in New Jersey?
To register to vote in New Jersey, you must meet the state's voter eligibility requirements, including being a United States citizen and a resident of your county for at least 30 days before the election.
New Jersey also allows eligible 17-year-olds to register, although they generally cannot vote until reaching age 18. Certain 17-year-olds may vote in a primary election if they will turn 18 by the following General Election.

Registration Is Only the First Step
Once you’re registered, make a plan to vote.
The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, November 3, but New Jersey voters have several options for casting their ballots.
In-person early voting for the General Election will run from October 24 through November 1,
2026. Eligible voters may also vote by mail or cast their ballot in person on Election Day.
Think about which option works best for you before Election Day arrives.
